ASHBURN, Va., Oct. 14 (UPI) -- The Washington Redskins placed tight end Robert Royal on injured reserve Tuesday with a fractured right hip and brought back Zeron Flemister.
Royal suffered the injury in last Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
A fifth-round pick in 2002, Royal started all six games this season and had five catches for 48 yards. As a rookie, he sustained a high ankle sprain during the preseason and was placed on injured reserve prior to the start of the regular season.
Flemister was waived last week when the Redskins signed veteran tight end Byron Chamberlain to complement Royal.
Flemister missed two games with a hamstring injury and had just one catch for the Redskins before he was waived. Last season, he played in 15 games and had 10 catches for 146 yards and two touchdowns.
