Broken pinkie sidelines Letowski

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Right wing Trevor Letowski of the Columbus Blue Jackets will be sidelined four to six weeks after breaking his pinkie during Saturday night.

Letowski was injured in the 5-0 win over the New York Rangers.

Signed as a free agent in the offseason, Letowski, who scored his first goal of the season in the first period, was slashed by defenseman Boris Mironov in the second period. He did not return.

Mironov was not penalized, drawing the ire of Columbus Coach Doug MacLean.

"It was a vicious slash by Mironov," MacLean said. "It was ridiculous."

In 328 NHL games with Phoenix, Vancouver, and Columbus, Letowski has 49 goals and 67 assists.
