MADISON, Miss., Oct. 5 (UPI) -- John Huston birdied three straight holes Sunday to end a three-year victory drought with a one-stroke win at the Southern Farm Bureau Classic.
Brenden Pappas started the day seven shots behind Huston, who had at least a share of the lead after each of the first three rounds. But the 33-year-old South African charged to the top of the leaderboard with a 10-under-par 62 that included an eagle at the 522-yard fifth hole.
Huston, who found himself in the unusual position of trailing, stumbled with another bogey at the 171-yard 12th hole but regained his touch at the 176-yard 15th, where his tee shot stopped three feet from the cup. The 42-year-old knocked in a 10-footer for birdie at No. 16 and followed with another three-footer to get to 20-under.
Japan's Shigeki Maruyama was third at 18-under 270.
