Tennessee 23, South Carolina 20 (OT)

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Casey Clausen threw a four-yard touchdown pass to James Banks Satuday as No. 8 Tennessee escaped with a 23-20 overtime victory over South Carolina.

After an impressive win at Florida last week, Tennessee struggled for most of the night against the Gamecocks.

Tennessee Coach Phillip Fulmer said the best player on the field for the Vols was punter Dustin Colquitt, who had seven kicks for an average of 51.7 yards.

South Carolina had th ball first in overtime and Daniel Weaver kicked a 24-yard field goal.

On the Vols' turn, Cedric Houston carried four straight times for 21 yards before Clausen looked for Banks in the right corner of the end zone.

Tennessee improved to 4-0 for the first time since its national championship season of 1998. South Carolina fell to 2-2.
