Northern Ill 24, Iowa State 16

DEKALB, Ill., Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Michael Turner set a Northern Illinois record for rushing yards and total yards Saturday as the No. 22 Huskies took a 24-16 victory over Iowa State.

Turner rushed for 128 yards and 32 carries to bring his career total to 3,801, passing the team mark set by Mark Kellar, who gained 3,745 yards from 1971-73.

The senior running back also caught two passes for 29 yards to increase his all-purpose yardage to 4,739, moving ahead of Deon Mitchell, who played wide receiver for Nothern Illinois from 1995-98.

Turner rushed for a two-yard touchdown early in the second quarter and the Huskies took the lead for good at 14-10.

Northern Illinois (4-0) was clinging to a 17-16 lead before Haldi connected with P.J. Fleck on a nine-yard scoring pass with just under two minutes left in the game.
