Beth Daniel takes four-shot lead

PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Beth Daniel equaled her career best round with a 62 Friday to take a four-shot lead over a star-studded leaderboard at the Safeway Classic.

A member of the LPGA Hall of Fame, Daniel ended an eight-year victory drought in July when she won the Canadian Women's Open, her 33rd career triumph.

But only once before had she produced a round like this one.

After posting pars at the first five holes, Daniel birdied 10 of the last 13 at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club.

She wass four shots better than Cristie Kerr and Korea's Grace Park, who is one of three millionaires on the money list.

Included at 5-under 67 were Kelli Kuehne and superstar Annika Sorenstam, the defending champion who tops the tour with $1.515 million and four wins this year.
