Woods sets receiving record in OSU win

DALLAS, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- A record-breaking performance by Rashaun Woods may have propelled Oklahoma State back into the national rankings.

Woods caught a Division I record seven touchdown passes from Josh Fields Saturday night as the Cowboys rolled to a 52-6 rout of SMU.

Woods' seven touchdowns broke the record of San Diego State's Tim Delaney, who caught six touchdowns on Nov. 15, 1969 against New Mexico State. The senior has 36 scoring receptions for his career, a new school and Big 12 record.

He fell one touchdown shy of Division II North Park's Paul Zaeske's record of eight touchdown catches, set on Oct. 12, 1968 against North Central, for the most TD catches in any college game.

"I didn't know until I did it, then coach (Les Miles) told me," Woods said. "He didn't give me a hint. I knew it was four for the school (record) and that was about it. It's truly a blessing. I'm very thankful I had the opportunity."

Woods had 13 catches overall for 232 yards.
