Colorado 5, San Diego 3

DENVER, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Larry Walker hit a two-run homer Sunday as Colorado won its first home series since late August with a 5-3 victory over San Diego.

Jay Payton led off the second with a single and Walker followed with his first home run since Sept. 2 to make it 2-2. Rookie Rene Reyes then singled, stole second and went to third on a single by Gregg Zaun. Rookie Clint Barmes put the Rockies ahead with a sacrifice fly.

Neither team scored again until Reyes hit a two-run homer to provide the Rockies with some insurance in the eighth.

The Rockies needed that insurance as Sean Burroughs homered off Brian Fuentes in the ninth, but Fuentes hung on for his fourth save.
