Boston 2, Cleveland 0

CLEVELAND, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Pedro Martinez and two relievers combined on a four-hitter Sunday and Manny Ramirez drove in one run and scored the other as Boston blanked Cleveland, 2-0.

Boston was coming off a loss to Cleveland on Saturday. After scoring twice in the fourth to take the lead, the Red Sox were clinging to that lead in the seventh when the Indians loaded the bases with two outs.

Martinez (14-4), clearly tired, fell behind Angel Santos, 2-0, but regrouped and fired three straight strikes to squelch the threat.

Mike Timlin worked around a walk in the eighth, and Byung-Hyun Kim tossed a perfect ninth to notch his 15th save.

Cleveland rookie Cliff Lee (3-2) pitched well, allowing two runs and three hits in seven innings.
