Kansas City 7, Chicago White Sox 1

CHICAGO, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Brian Anderson had a five-hitter for his second complete game as Kansas City gave Esteban Loaiza his third straight loss in a 7-1 win over the Chicago White Sox.

Loaiza (19-9) surrendered three runs in the third inning and Chicago never recovered, losing for the seventh time in 10 games and falling 4 1/2 games behind first-place Minnesota in the AL Central Division.

The Twins' magic number for clinching their second straight division title is four.

Anderson (13-11) made just one mistake, serving up Frank Thomas' first-inning home run. The lefthander gave up only four more

hits -- all singles. He improved to 4-1 in six starts since he was acquired from Cleveland on Aug. 25.

Carlos Beltran had three hits and scored twice and Rondell White also had three hits for the Royals who won for the sixth time in eight games.
