Knee injury sidelines Jurevicius

TAMPA, Fla., Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Wide receiver Joe Jurevicius of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will miss four to six weeks with a torn MCL in his right knee, it was announced Monday.

Jurevicius was injured in Sunday's 12-9 loss to the Carolina Panthers while blocking on a running play. He caught four passes for 31 yards before the injury.

"There's a possibility that we'll look for another receiver given the fact that Joe will down for period of weeks," Coach Jon Gruden said. "We're in the process of looking at that situation right now. Reggie Barlow is a guy on our team obviously that we may ask to compete and play just as we did last year."

The Buccaneers' slot receiver had a pair of touchdown catches in their season-opening 17-0 victory at Philadelphia last Monday.

Jurevicius, who spent his first four seasons with the New York Giants before signing with Tampa Bay in 2002, has 147 catches for 1,935 yards and 11 touchdowns in his career.
