PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Marlon Byrd singled in Tomas Perez in the bottom of the 11th inning Sunday night to give Philadelphia a 5-4 win over the New York Mets.

Nick Punto had singled in the tying run in the ninth as the Phillies rallied for their seventh straight win over the Mets. Philadelphia was 0-51 when trailing after eight innings, but got a series of big hits to remain one game in front of Florida for the National League wild card berth.

Dan Wheeler (1-3) gave up Byrd's game-winning hit. Rheal Cormier (6-0) struck out two in two scoreless innings for the win, Philadelphia's sixth in a row overall and ninth in 10 games. The Phillies took the season series, 12-7.

The Mets, trying to avoid their first four-game sweep against Philadelphia since June 1995 and playing their last game at Veterans Field, grabbed a 4-2 lead in the eighth as a two-run double by Ty Wigginton capped a three-run rally.

Wigginton tied a career high with four hits.
