ANAHEIM, Calif., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Paul Abbott earned his first win in nearly 17 months Sunday and Aaron Guiel and Ken Harvey homered to lead Kansas City to a 3-0 victory over Anaheim.

Pitching for the first time in 10 days, Abbott (1-0) allowed five hits in seven sharp innings. He picked up his first win since April 13, 2002 for Seattle.

The righthander was staked to a 2-0 lead before taking the mound as Guiel led off the game with his 14th homer and Carlos Beltran had a sacrifice fly.

Harvey capped the scoring in the sixth with his 12th homer, and Abbott and Jeremy Affeldt made it stand. Affeldt pitched two perfect innings for his third save in as many chances.

Anaheim's John Lackey (9-14) allowed three runs and seven hits in seven innings.
