ORCHARD PARK, N.Y., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Defensive tackle Sam Adams returned an interception 37 yards for a touchdown Sunday afternoon to ignite a 31-0 rout of New England by Buffalo.
Also for the Bills, linebacker Takeo Spikes enjoyed his first two-interception game as the Bills rolled in the season-opening battle of AFC East rivals.
New England quarterback Tom Brady was 4-0 with a 101.2 passer rating against the Bills going in, but was overwhelmed in this one while facing a revamped Buffalo defense, including former Patriots safety Lawyer Milloy, a four-time Pro Bowler who was surprisingly waived last week.
Brady was intercepted four times and threw for just 123 yards. It was Buffalo's first shutout since a 26-0 victory over Philadelphia on Sept. 26, 1999.
Also, Drew Bledsoe finally beat his former team, completing 17-of-28 passes for 231 yards and one touchdown. He had one interception.
