McKinney hurts knee again at practice

HOUSTON, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Center Steve McKinney of the Houston Texans re-injured his left knee in practice Thursday, but should be able to play this weekend.

The injury occurred during a field goal drill and was the second time this month he hurt the knee.

"It just so happened it was a normal field goal-field goal blocking drill that we do on Thursday," said Coach Dom Capers.

McKinney, who had to be helped off the field by the training staff, originally injured the knee in practice on Aug. 6, causing him to miss all four of the team's preseason games.

"It hurts but it always hurts," McKinney said. "Right now my intentions are still to play. I'm going to try to suck it up and do whatever I have to do to go Sunday."

McKinney, a six-year veteran, play every snap last season, one of three offensive players to do so, joining quarterback David Carr and left tackle Chester Pitts.

The Texans open the season at Miami.
