The Bruins had been in the market for a veteran goaltender after free agent Jeff Hackett signed with the Philadelphia Flyers.

"Felix has been a solid NHL goaltender for a number of years," said General Manager Mike O'Connell. "He's won playoff rounds and he gives us another veteran with experience."

Potvin, 32, has spent the last two-plus seasons with the Los Angeles Kings. He played in 42 games last season, and was 17-20-3 with three shutouts and a 2.66 goals-against average before suffering a knee injury on Jan. 28 that ended his season.

Potvin is 254-252-79 with a 2.78 GAA in 607 games with Toronto, the New York Islanders, Vancouver, and Los Angeles. He has had seven 20-win seasons, including three with 30 or more triumphs.
