Minnesota 6, Anaheim 1

ANAHEIM, Calif., Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Kyle Lohse pitched 6 2/3 effective innings and Jacque Jones hit a two-run homer Thursday, lifting Minnesota to a 6-1 victory over Anaheim.

Despite being in the thick of the American League Central race, the Twins have had a problem in their rotation for much of the season. Lohse was part of it as he endured a five-game losing streak from June 16-July 26.

But the righthander has recovered. Lohse (11-10) won for the fifth time in his last six starts, allowing one run and five hits. He worked around five walks and struck out three.

Jones capped a four-run eighth inning with his 13th homer of the season, giving the Twins a 6-1 lead.

Angels starter Ramon Ortiz (15-11) surrendered five runs and six hits in seven innings. He walked one and struck out three.
