Miami 48, Louisiana Tech 9

RUSTON, La., Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Antrel Rolle returned a punt and interception for touchdowns Thursday night, highlighting third-ranked Miami's 48-9 rout of Louisiana Tech.

The biggest crowd in Louisiana Tech football history watched a mostly one-sided affair, with Miami (1-0) scoring a pair of touchdowns in the first five minutes before pulling away in the second half.

In his debut with the Hurricanes, Brock Berlin opened the scoring with a 24-yard pass to Ryan Moore 2:35 into the game. He also found tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. from six yards out for a 31-6 lead with 3:29 left in the third quarter.

Berlin, a Florida transfer who is replacing Ken Dorsey, passed for 201 yards.

Rolle scampered 66 yards on a punt return to give Miami a 14-0 lead five minutes into the game. He also sprinted 30 yards on an interception late in the third.
