Connecticut 72, Indiana 62

INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- McWilliams-Franklin scored 17 points Monday as Connecticut clinched the final postseason berth in the WNBA with a 72-62 victory that eliminated Indiana.

Connecticut is headed to the playoffs for the second time in franchise history, also reaching the postseason in 2000 as the Orlando Miracle. The Sun finished 18-16, marking the first time they have has had a winning record.

They will meet second seed Charlotte in the first round.

Nykesha Sales scored 14 points and Shannon Johnson chipped in 12 for Connecticut, which would have been eliminated with a loss.

Yamika Catchings and Natalie Williams each fouled out with 20 points for Indiana, which missed an opportunity to reach the playoffs for the second straight season.
