St. Louis 5, Philadelphia 3

ST. LOUIS, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Pintch hitter Kerry Robinson's two-run single highlighted a five-run fifth inning Saturday as St. Louis posted a 5-3 victory over Philadelphia.

Sterling Hitchcock picked up a win in his first game with his new team.

Trailing 1-0, the Cardinals had five straight batters reach base and score in the sixth. Phillies starter Amaury Telemaco (1-1) started by hitting Albert Pujols.

Jim Edmonds and Scott Rolen followed with singles, loading the bases. Dan Plesac walked Eduardo Perez, forcing in Pujols with the tying run. Terry Adams came on for Plesac and gave up an RBI single to Edgar Renteria.

Hitting for Hitchcock (1-0), Robinson delievered a two-run single. Renteria later scored on Miguel Cairo's sacrifice fly.

Activated from the disabled list prior to the game, Matt Morris

allowed one run and six hits in five innings in his first outing

since July 21.
