White Sox acquire Scott Sullivan

CHICAGO, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- The Chicago White Sox bolstered their bullpen Thursday night, acquiring righthander Scott Sullivan from Cincinnati for a player to be named and cash.

Sullivan, 32, was 6-0 with a 3.62 ERA in 50 appearances as a setup man for the Reds. He has allowed just one run and 10 hits in 17 2/3 innings in 17 games since June 16.

Opponents are hitting just .211 against Sullivan, who came off the disabled list on Aug. 8 after missing nearly three weeks with tendinitis in his pitching shoulder.

Since July, the Reds have traded away pitchers Scott Williamson, Gabe White and Kent Mercker, third baseman Aaron Boone and outfielder Jose Guillen. They also fired General Manager Jim Bowden and Manager Tim Foli.
