Report: Scott Drew to coach Baylor

WACO, Texas, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- The Waco Tribune-Herald reported Thursday that Baylor University planned to hire Valparaiso's Scott Drew as its new men's basketball coach.

Drew would replace Dave Bliss, who resigned Aug. 8 after an internal investigation found he was directly involved in major violations of NCAA rules. Bliss has admitted attempting to cover up the violations.

Drew coached Valparaiso to the National Invitation Tournament last season with a 20-11 record. It was his first year on the job after replacing his father, Homer Drew.

A university source told the Waco newspaper that Homer Drew would return as interim coach at Valparaiso.
