San Francisco 5, Atlanta 4 (10 innings)

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Barry Bonds led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a long home run into McCovey Cove Tuesday night to give San Francisco a 5-4 win over Atlanta.

With the win, the Giants snapped a season-high six-game losing streak.

Barry Bonds was activated from the bereavement list before the contest after missing four games to be with his ailing father, Bobby, who is battling cancer.

In an emotional pregame news conference, Barry Bonds said his father might come to Pacific Bell Park on Wednesday.

Barry Bonds sent a 2-2 pitch by Ray King (3-2) over the wall in right field for his major league-leading 38th homer.

The blast made a winner of Tim Worrell (4-3), who worked two perfect innings.

In the loss, the Braves got home runs from Marcus Giles, Gary Sheffield, and Javy Lopez.
