ATLANTA, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- The Atlanta Falcons lost Michael Vick to a broken ankle Saturday night during their 13-10 NFL Preseason loss to Baltimore.

Vick, one of pro football's most exciting players, was expected to be out for six weeks but no surgery was anticipated.

He suffered a fractured right ankle in the first quarter after getting chased out of pocket and being tackled by defensive end Adalius Thomas.

After being examined by trainers, Vick was taken off the field on a cart. X-rays revealed a fractured fibula that likely will sideline Vick for at least six weeks.

Doug Johnson, who will replace Vick as the starter, completed 6-of-11 passes for 76 yards and an interception.

Kyle Boller, one of the Ravens' two first-round picks, went 9-of-18 for 132 yards with one touchdown and an interception.
