It is the first pole in 43 career Busch Series starts for Kahne, whose previous best start was from the No. 2 position at Dover in May. His best finish in two years on the circuit was fourth place at California Speedway in April.

Joining him on the front row will be David Reutimann, who clocked a lap of 186.379 mph in his Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Reutimann will be making his seventh Busch Series start and last of the season.

Casey Mears had a lap of 186.340 mph in his Dodge Intrepid and will start in the second row.
