Report: The Kemper gets a new name again

WASHINGTON, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- The former Kemper Open will have another new name and sponsor in 2004.

The Washington Post reported Monday that the FBR Capital Open has been replaced by consulting giant Booz Allen Hamilton, which is based in McLean, Va., as the sponsor of the men's golf tournament in suburban Washington for 2004.

The event is played at Avenel in Potomac, Md. It had been called the Kemper Open until this year, but the insurance giant bowed out for financial reasons.

"We sort of found each other," Ralph Shrader, the CEO for Booz Allen, told the Washington Post. "There's a lot of interest in golf in the company. We've always been a big player in local charities. We were looking for a high quality way to portray the Booz Allen name. It just seemed like the natural thing to do."

The event will be called the Booz Allen Open. It will again be played at Avenel next year, but may be moved to Congressional Country Club in Rockville after that.
