ST. LOUIS, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Eduardo Perez and Albert Pujols had eighth-inning homers Sunday to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 3-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

After Perez tied the game with a two-out homer, Pujols followed with his 31st of the season.

Rafael Furcal recorded the 12th unassisted triple play in major league history in the fifth inning.

The Braves' shortstop jumped to catch a line drive hit by pitcher Woody Williams, doubled Mike Matheny off second base and tagged out Orlando Palmeiro after both runners ran on the pitch.

The Cardinals trailed, 2-1, with two outs in the eighth before Perez had his ninth homer of the season. Smoltz (0-2) came in and Pujols extended his streak to 24 games.

Gary Sheffield drove in both Atlanta runs on a homer in the fouth inning and a sacrifice fly that drove in Furcal in the seventh.
