Minnesota 8, Detroit 4 (10 innings)

DETROIT, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Jacque Jones had three hits, with two doubles, scored three runs and drove in three Saturday as Minnesota beat Detroit, 8-4, in 10 innings.

Against the Tigers, Jones hit fifth and served as the designated hitter. He had an RBI single in the fourth to get Minnesota on the board and highlighted a four-run 10th inning with a two-run double.

Torii Hunter capped the big 10th inning with his 21st homer of the season, a two-run shot against Detroit reliever Shane Loux.

Juan Rincon (3-4) allowed three hits over two scoreless innings and earned the victory.

Chris Mears (0-1), who allowed back-to-back walks with one out in the 10th, was charged with the loss.
