GLADWYNE, Pa., Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Jane Park never trailed Friday en route to a 2-up quarterfinal victory over defending champion Becky Lucidi at the U.S. Women's Amateur.
Lucidi was trying to become the first repeat winner since Kelli Kuehne in 1995-96.
The 16-year-old Park is fresh off her title at the Betsy Rawls McDonald's Girls Championship at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Del., which hosts the LPGA Championship.
Park will fellow Californian Paula Creamer on Saturday in the semifinals. Creamer, 17, moved on with a 6 & 5 win over Erica Blasberg.
The other semifinal pits 21-year-old Virada Nirapathpongporn of Thailand against 15-year-old In-Bee Park of Korea.
Nirapathpongporn defeated Aree Song in the quarterfinals, 1-up. The quarterfinalists all advanced by winning third-round matches earlier in the day.
