Agassi survives scare in Montreal

MONTREAL, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Unheralded Canadian Sebastien Larose threw a brief scare into three-time champion Andre Agassi Thursday in the Tennis Masters Series.

Agassi, however, rallied for a 6-4, 6-2 win and a place in the quarterfinals.

Larose, ranked No. 314 in the world, already had defeated a high-profile opponent in the first round, shocking Brazil's Gustavo Kuerten.

Also on Thursday, Spain's Feliciano Lopez ousted qualifier Karol Beck, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3).

Last year's Wimbledon finalist, David Nalbandian, stopped Florida's Vince Spadea, 6-4, 6-2, in a match interrupted for 30 minutes by rain with the Argentine standing two points from victory.
