Oakland 9, Detroit 3

DETROIT, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Eric Chavez homered twice and drove in a season-high five runs Wednesday night as Oakland coasted past Detroit, 9-3.

Tim Hudson recorded his 10th win and has reached that plateau for five straight seasons.

With two outs in the first inning, Chavez gave Hudson a lead he never relinquished, belting a solo home run to right field. In the seventh, Chavez put Oakland ahead, 6-2, with a two-run blast.

Chavez added a two-run double in the ninth to secure the win. Hudson (10-4) allowed three runs and seven hits in eight innings. The righthander has been victorious in five of his last six decisions.
