U.S. women roll past Argentina

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Rebekkah Brunson and Loree Moore each scored 12 points Tuesday as the United States podted a 93-78 victory over Argentina at the Pan Am Games.

Jamie Carey, Roneeka Hodges and Laurie Koehn each added 11 points as Team USA clinched a berth in the medal round. The U.S. (3-1) completes round-robin play against winless Dominican Republic (0-4).

The U.S. opened the third quarter with an 11-4 run and took the lead for good on a 3-pointer by Carey with 6 1/2 minutes left. Carey made another 3-pointer during a 9-0 run that opened a 62-48 cushion.

Erica Sanchez led all scorers with 28 points for Argentina (1-3), which will face Canada (1-3) Wednesday.

Cuba (4-0) remained unbeaten with an 81-66 triump over Canada and Brazil (3-1) kept the Dominican Republic winless with a 102-44 rout.
