Junqueira wins Champ World Seriea race

ELKHART LAKE, Wis., Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Rain cut short the Mario Andretti Grand Prix Sunday but could not stop Bruno Junqueira from recording his first Champ World Series victory of the year.

In a race filled with yellow and red flags, Junqueira won from the pole in a Ford/Lola as the race was shortened to 34 laps due to rain. The Brazilian's fourth career win moved him past Canada's Paul Tracy into first place in the Champ Car standings.

Junqueira is three points ahead of Tracy, who crashed on the third restart. Tracy locked his rear tires, hit the tire wall and failed to finish for just the second time this season.

French rookie Sebastien Bourdais came in second behind his Newman/Haas Racing teammate. Alex Tagliani of Canada was third, ahead of Max Papis and Patrick Carpentier of Canada.
