Jozef Stumpel signs with Kings

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., July 31 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Kings agreed to terms with four players Thursday, including center Jozef Stumpel.

Stumpel, left wing Kip Brennan, center Jerred Smithson and free-agent defenseman Bryan Muir all received one-year contracts. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Stumpel, 30, was acquired from the Boston Bruins on June 20 for a pair of draft picks. Last season with the Bruins, he collected 14 goals and 37 assists in 78 games.

Stumpel played four seasons with Los Angeles before being traded to the Bruins in exchange for Glen Murray, Jason Allison and Mikko Eloranta on Oct. 24, 2001. In his previous stint with the Kings, the 30-year-old Slovakian scored 68 goals and 162 assists in 271 games.
