NEW YORK, July 30 (UPI) -- Al Leiter allowed five hits in seven innings Wednesday night to lead the New York Mets to a 2-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.
Leiter (10-5) struck out six and walked four to win consecutive starts for the first time since mid-June.

David Weathers retired the final six batters for his second save.
The Mets gave Leiter all the offense he needed in the third, when rookie Jose Reyes led off with a single and came home on a groundout by Cliff Floyd.
The Brewers almost struck back in the next inning, when Brady Clark was hit by a pitch and Keith Ginter singled. But Eddie Perez grounded into a double play and, after an intentional walk to Royce Clayton, pitcher Wes Obermueller struck out to end the inning.
