The veteran righthander was in command most of the game but appeared to tire in the eighth. He put runners on second and third with one out and was chased after allowing Luis Matos' RBI single.

Juan Rincon entered and struck out Jeff Conine for the second out. J.C. Romero finished the frame by retiring Jay Gibbons on a groundout. Eddie Guardado retired all three batters he faced in the ninth.

Hitting cleanup for the first time this season, Jones had his first three-RBI game since June 25.
