ATLANTA, July 29 (UPI) -- Marcus Giles went 5-for-5 and pitcher Russ Ortiz homered Tuesday as the Atlanta Braves collected 18 hits in a 6-3 win over the Houston Astros.

Giles had doubles in his last four at-bats Monday in Montreal. In this one, he had five singles, moving within one of the National League record for consecutive hits.

Ortiz (15-4), who became the first 15-game winner in the

National League, led off the third inning with his second homer of the season, tying the game, 1-1. Roy Oswalt, Houston's ace righthander, immediately left as he aggravated his groin injury on the pitch.

The Braves collected 18 hits off five pitchers, including a homer by Gary Sheffield. In its last five games, Atlanta has 84 hits.
