Whaley misses cut at GHO

CROMWELL, Conn., July 25 (UPI) -- Suzy Whaley finished her memorable PGA Tour appearance Friday, shooting an eight-over-par 78 that left her ahead of two players at the Greater Hartford Open.

Whaley, who qualified for the event by winning a Connecticut PGA Sectional tournament last year, had three double-bogeys, three bogeys and a birdie Friday. Finishing on the back nine, she birdied the first hole and closed with four straight pars.

The mother of two finished the tournament at 13-over 153, good for 152nd of the 154 players expected to complete 36 holes. Gabriel Hjertstedt of Sweden, a two-time winner on the PGA Tour, and Ryan Ouellette were at 15-over 155.

Whaley totaled four double-bogeys, seven bogeys, and two birdies at the TPC at River Highlands.

When Whaley finished, Darron Stiles and Jay Haas had a share of the lead at eight-under.
