Posey signs offer sheet

MEMPHIS, July 23 (UPI) -- Free agent forward James Posey signed a contract offer sheet with the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.

Posey is a restricted free agent with the Houston Rockets, who have 15 days to match the offer made by the Grizzlies. Terms of the offer sheet were not disclosed.

The five-year veteran averaged 10.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.3 steals in 30.3 minutes per game last season. He played 25 games with the Denver Nuggets before being traded to Houston.

Posey has averaged 9.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 319 career games. He was the only player to play in 83 regular season games in 2002-03.
