MINNEAPOLIS, July 23 (UPI) -- Aaron Guiel homered twice and Angel Berroa had a three-run shot in a five-run sixth Wednesday night, boosting Kansas City past Minnesota, 8-3.
The Royals beat the Twins for the eighth time in 11 games.
Carlos Beltran and Raul Ibanez also homered for the Royals, who improved to 34-0 when holding opponents to three runs or less.
The offense was more than enough for Kansas City starter Jeremy Affeldt (6-5), who continued to dominate the Twins this season. Affeldt allowed just three singles and two walks, struck out five and improved to 2-0 with a 1.69 in three starts against Minnesota this season.
Twins starter Johan Santana (4-3) was tagged for five runs and five hits in 5 1/3 innings. He walked three, struck out four and allowed three of the home runs.
