Inkster shares LPGA lead

EVIAN-LES-BAINES, France, July 23 (UPI) -- Juli Inkster shared the lead with rookie Lorena Ochoa of Mexico after the first round Wednesday at the Evian Masters.

Inkster had six birdies, a double bogey and an eagle at the final hole, where she almost converted from 200 yards in her round of 6-under-par 66. Ochoa, 21, made the turn in 29 and tied the tournament record set by nine others, including Laura Davies of England and American Susie Redman.

Ochoa birdied four of the first six holes and eagled the seventh at the par-5 seventh where she rolled in a shot from 25 feet.

Rosie Jones was a shot behind the leaders after shooting a 67 with six birdies and a bogey.

Swedish superstar Annika Sorenstam returned after a two-week break and shot an even-par 72, tied for 31st place.
