PHILADELPHIA, July 20 (UPI) -- Brett Myers struck out 10 in 8 2/3 innings before allowing a two-run homer by Brad Wilkerson as Philadelphia got its eighth win in 10 games, 3-2 over Montreal.

After putting runners in scoring position in each of the first three innings, Myers (10-6) settled down, retiring 10 straight before Matt Cepicky's ground-rule double in the sixth. The righthander was one out away from his third career complete game.

Myers allowed two runs and seven hits to win his fifth consecutive decision.

Bobby Abreu paced the Phillies with two hits and two RBI.

Rookie Claudio Vargas (6-6)

was dealt his third straight loss. Vargas, who fell to 0-3 against Philadelphia, yielded two runs and six hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Orlando Cabrera led off the ninth with a single to extend his hitting streak to 15 games for the Expos.
