Chicago Cubs 16, Florida 2

MIAMI, July 20 (UPI) -- Florida rookie Dontrelle Willis (9-2), after holding the Chicago Cubs without a hit for two innings, got knocked around Sunday after a 67-minute rain delay.

Willis ended up suffering his first loss since May 20 as the Cubs pounded the Marlins, 16-2.

Willis had won eight straight decisions over a span of 10 starts. The 21-year-old lefthander was the youngest pitcher since Dwight Gooden in 1985 to be named to the All-Star team.

Cubs starter Carlos Zambrano (7-8) led off the third with a double off Willis. He could not advance on Mark Grudzielanek's single but scored on the next play when Trenidad Hubbard doubled.

Sammy Sosa drove home Grudzielanek with an infield single, Moises Alou followed with an RBI double and Eric Karros drove home two more runs with another double. Willis walked Alex Gonzalez and was taken out of the game.
