Red Wings re-sign Dandenault

DETROIT, July 15 (UPI) -- The Red Wings avoided salary arbitration with defenseman Mathieu Dandenault on Tuesday, re-signing the defenseman to a one-year contract.

Dandenault had four goals and 15 assists in 74 games last season. He has been with the Red Wings his entire career, making his debut in 1995-96 after being drafted in the second round of the 1994 draft.

The Red Wings have already bolstered their blue line this offseason by signing free agent Derian Hatcher from the Dallas Stars.
