McGlockton, 33, has played exclusively for teams in the AFC West in his 11-year career. He started 15 of 16 games with Denver last season and had 63 tackles, 2 1/2 sacks, three pass deflections and a fumble recovery. He was waived for salary cap purposes.

"Chester McGlockton is a big athlete who's physical and plays the run well," said General Manager Terry Bradway. "He can also collapse the pocket as a pass rusher. He's the kind of run-stopper that (defensive coordinator) Ted Cottrell was looking to play on the inside."

He will replace Josh Evans, who was suspended indefinitely by the NFL on June 27 for violating the league's substance abuse policy for the third time.

The 6-3, 334-pounder, a four-time Pro Bowler, has started 151 of 163 NFL games and averaged 58 tackles and 4 1/2 sacks per season. He has returned two fumbles for touchdowns.
