Arizona 9, Colorado 3

PHOENIX, July 9 (UPI) -- Carlos Baerga hit a three-run homer as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning Tuesday night to lead Arizona to a 9-3 win over the Colorado Rockies.

Baerga is in his 12th major league season and has been a huge surprise for the red-hot Diamondbacks, who have been beset by injuries.

Batting for pitcher Brandon Webb with one out in the seventh, he hit his fourth homer of the season to snap a 3-3 tie.

His homer made a winner out of Webb (6-2), who gave up three runs and seven hits over seven innings, walked one, and struck out nine. The 24-year-old righthander has allowed three runs or less in all 13 of his starts this season while pitching to a 2.18 ERA.

Steve Finley had a two-run homer and Craig Counsell a solo shot for the Diamondbacks, who extended their home winning streak to 10 games.

Arizona (50-39) also moved a season-high 11 games over the .500 mark.
