Detroit 66, Connecticut 50

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., July 8 (UPI) -- Swin Cash scored 13 points and Detroit held Connecticut without a basket for over 11 minutes in the second half Tuesday enroute to a 66-50 victory.

Cash scored 12 of her points in the first half, helping the Shock to a 38-34 lead. She also contributed on defense in the second half as the Shock used a 21-0 run to open a 63-38 cushion with 5:42 remaining.

Deanna Nolan had six points in the surge and Kendra Holland-Corn added five for Detroit, which has won all three meetings from Connecticut this season.

The Sun, who rallied from a pair of 16-point deficits in the second half of Sunday's win over New York, missed 17 straight shots before Shannon Johnson made a layup with 5:24 remaining.

Nykesha Sales had 15 points for Connecticut, which had a season-high three-game winning streak stopped.
