More surgery ahead for Williams

CHICAGO, July 3 (UPI) -- Chicago Bulls point guard Jay Williams will undergo further surgery and rehabilitation at Duke University Medical Center.

Williams suffered a fractured pelvis and ligament damage to his knee in a motorcycle accident two weeks ago.

According to a statement released by the family Thursday, Williams was discharged from Illinois Masonic Hospital following successful pelvis surgery and transferred to Duke Medical Center on Wednesday.

Williams will remain there to begin the next phase of his recovery, which will include knee ligament surgery and rehabilitation.

"The Williams family wants to thank everyone in the city of Chicago and across the nation for the outpouring of support and prayers during this time," the statement said. Williams is likely to miss the 2003-04 season.
