DENVER, July 1 (UPI) -- Luis Gonzalez homered twice Monday night as Arizona ran its winning streak for a franchise-record 12 games, beating Colorado, 8-7 in 12 innings.

In the win, rookie Matt Kata had a career-high five hits for the Diamondbacks, who posted their second straight extra-inning victory. Kata and Gonzalez were a combined 7-for-11 with seven RBI and five runs scored.

Kata scored the tying run in the seventh on a single by Carlos Baerga, and delivered a double off Colorado closer Jose Jimenez (0-4). After David Dellucci walked and stole second, Kata gave Arizona the lead for good when he lined Jimenez's 1-1 pitch offering down the right field line.

After Baerga singled and Alex Cintron fouled out, Gonzalez hit a three-run shot into the second deck in right-center field for an 8-4 lead.

The win capped the most successful month in team history at 20-6, and ended Arizona's seven-game losing streak at Coors Field. In their last 15 games, the Diamondbacks are 14-1.
