Cleveland 10, Kansas City 5 (1st game)

KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 30 (UPI) -- Cliff Lee, told he would be returning to Class AAA Buffalo, allowed three hits in six innings Monday to lead Cleveland 10-5 over Kansas City.

Lee (1-0), a 24-year-old lefthander, gave up a pair of unearned runs, struck out five and walked three. He also pitched well last season in a pair of appearances, allowing just six hits and two runs in 10 1/3 innings.

Casey Blake capped the win with his first career grand slam in the eighth inning. It was the seventh home run of the season for the third baseman.

Blake is in the midst of a 10-game hitting streak during which he is batting .372 (16-for-43).

Royals starter Brad Voyles (0-1) allowed four runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Michael Tucker drove in three runs for Kansas City, which has dropped three straight following a five-game winning streak.
